with guest speaker medical oncologist and award-winning author Dr Ranjana Srivastava with “How I Became A Writer and Other Stories”
Dr. Ranjana Srivastava is a Fulbright scholar, medical oncologist and general physician. Sheis also an award-winning author and social commentator. She writes regularly for the Age, the Week and the New England Journal of Medicine and has started her most recent job as a popular health columnist for the Melbourne Magazine, where she discusses medicine and society. Ranjana is married with three young children.
In this lunchtime talk, Ranjana traces the journey of her writing career and the inspirations behind her work. She discusses the dilemmas in discussing real patients and the lessons learned from writing about them. She offers insight into the challenges of publishing and some practical tips for the aspiring writer. Ranjana will share some excerpts from her writing to bring the topic alive.
